Julian Besag - Full Professor at University of Washington without PhD!

To me, Statistics is not summarized through some ugly fat formulas; instead, Statistics is a way and discipline in logical and critical thinking; Julian Besag, a well-known statistican who passed away recently, has always been an icon for me as a super-smart statistician who was not limited in the cliche common today; he was full professor in the department of statistics at University of Washington (one of the most well-respected programs in Biostatistics) without having PhD!
